Since its founding in 2014, THRIVE has grown into a critical resource for people returning from incarceration, and a leading voice for meaningful change. Learning from the experiences of our formerly incarcerated leaders, we match our returning neighbors with a team of community members and other resources to support them through their first year of reentry. About 2,000 people return from prison to communities in Massachusetts each year, and thousands more return from county jails. Without THRIVE’s support, the challenges that so many people face – securing stable housing, obtaining gainful employment, gaining access to health care and mental health support, and managing substance abuse – can prove insurmountable for returning individuals.

We envision a future where, collectively, we have dismantled the cradle-to-prison pipeline and eradicated mass incarceration. In this world, THRIVE’s services are no longer necessary because a minimal number of individuals experience reentry, and the entire community actively contributes to their successful reintegration. Until this transformative reality is realized, we persist in our daily collaboration with our community and partners to effect significant and meaningful change.
