CIRCLES OF SUPPORT AND ACCOUNTABILITY (CoSA)

THRIVE welcomes applications from individuals who are:

  • Incarcerated and preparing to be released within 12 months. Or persons in community who were released from incarceration and continue to face significant  challenges in their reentry.

  • Over 25 years old.

  • Planning to return to or living in Greater Lowell or Lawrence, MA.

  • Concerned about facing the challenges of reentry alone.

  • Seeking opportunities for healing and reconciliation.

WALK-IN HOURS & GROUPS

If you or a loved one have experienced incarceration and are seeking community support to help navigate your next steps, THRIVE Communities would love to meet you. We do not have all the answers, but we are happy to listen, share resource ideas, and explore opportunities together.

We host weekly walk-in hours at 99 Market St. Lowell, MA (ring the bell to enter) on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:30-11:30AM. We also help to coordinate a few groups open to individuals impacted by incarceration. See fliers for details.

SUPPORT A RETURNING CITIZEN / NEIGHBOR

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, no experience necessary!

Imagine changing the paradigm from coexisting with people who have been incarcerated, to one that encourages connection with returning citizens and builds resilience within the community as we learn to THRIVE together. Regardless of if you are a professional in a related field, someone who has personally experienced reentry, or simply a concerned community member, THRIVE wants to hear from you!

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BECOMING A VOLUNTEER?

  1. Complete volunteer application.

  2. Participate in an interview with THRIVE staff. This process helps to clarify expectations, identify strengths, and note characteristics of a Core Member for whom you might be a good fit.

  3. Take part in two THRIVE training events. A 2-day Circles of Support and Accountability training and a 1/2-day efficacy training. Share your interest and availability HERE.

  4. Prepare to get matched. Depending on organizational capacity and volunteer interest, this process may take a few months. We will do our best to keep you informed of your status and time-frame for placement. Please join our mailing list to receive regular organizational updates and stay tuned.

BECOME A COMMUNITY PARTNER

Thrive seeks community partners from all aspects of life. If you and your company, organization, or group cares about the community and the successful reentry of individuals returning from incarceration, we would love to explore ways to support each other. Community partners range from landlords and employers to volunteer groups and clubs; non-profits to for-profits; and from faith communities to municipalities. It all starts with a conversation.

THRIVE LEADERSHIP AND VISIONING FELLOWS

Informed by personal experiences and organizing efforts, Fellows cast and take action toward a vision for reentry in their local community. Fellows are people who:

  • have personally experienced jail or prison.

  • are members of the local community (Greater Lowell or Lawrence, MA)

Fellows are paid and supported in professional development through a stipend from Massachusetts Service Alliance: Commonwealth Corps.

THRIVE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Our board of directors represent a diverse group of community stakeholders throughout the state of Massachusetts. They guide the organization and ensure that THRIVE’s actions and vision is mission centered. The Board of Directors are responsible for the governance, growth and sustainability of THRIVE.
